Preparation of the Sectoral Water Allocation Plan for the Meriç Ergene Basin
The project encompasses a comprehensive planning study aimed at allocating water sustainably, equitably, and fairly among sectors by evaluating the current status of water resources in the Meriç–Ergene Basin, sectoral water uses, and future water demand projections. This study includes an analysis of the hydrological structure of the basin, surface and groundwater potential, and the current and future demands of all sectors such as agriculture, industry, drinking and domestic use, and ecosystem water needs, leading to the creation of a water budget. By assessing the risk of water scarcity, the effects of climate change, and sectoral priorities, a Sectoral Water Allocation Plan at the basin scale will be prepared.
The following services will be provided by our personnel within the scope of this project:
Collection and analysis of hydrological data of the Meriç–Ergene Basin,
Determination of surface and groundwater potential in the basin,
Analysis of water consumption across all sectors including agriculture, industry, drinking–domestic water, and environmental needs,
Preparation of population, production, and agricultural water demand projections for the future,
Assessment of the impacts of climate change on water resources,
Establishment of water budget across the basin and comparison of sectoral supply–demand balances,
Identification of water scarcity risk and sectoral priority criteria,
Development of water allocation strategies and creation of implementable allocation scenarios at the basin scale,
Preparation of the Sectoral Water Allocation Plan and submission to the employer.
