The Akarçay Basin Drought Management Plan Update Project
Considering the water budget of the Akarçay Basin and its sensitivity to drought, the integrated watershed management approach aims to reduce the negative impacts of drought on production resources and socio-economic life. This includes determining drought indices, indicators, and threshold values, conducting sectoral vulnerability analysis studies, and updating the works and measures to be taken before, during, and after drought, in order to prepare an up-to-date drought management plan for the Akarçay Basin, ensuring the rational and sustainable use of the limited water resources in the basin.
Within the scope of this project, the following services have been provided by our personnel:
Collection and analysis of hydrological and meteorological data of the basin,
Updating the water budget and assessing drought trends,
Determination of drought indices, indicators, and threshold values,
Conducting sectoral (agriculture, industry, drinking water, etc.) vulnerability analyses,
Assessment of potential risks within the scope of drought scenarios and the development of preventive strategies,
Identification and updating of measures to be implemented before, during, and after drought periods,
Ensuring coordination with stakeholder institutions and organizing participation meetings,
Preparation of the updated Akarçay Basin Drought Management Plan
